Chapter 5 Introduction

We have seen missing Treasury and Defence Department related documents concerned with a Misrepresentation of Australian Government Armament’s Authority but the claims made by Michael Murphy concerning his personal connections to Prime Minister Gough Whitlam and Treasurer and Deputy Prime Minister Dr Jim Cairns, as well as his statements concerning loans were a Misrepresentation of the Australian Government Borrowing Authority. At this time there were also missing Defence Department documents concerning Australian intercepts of Indonesian battlefield communications in East Timor. All the missing documents lead back to each other and to Balibo, the dead journalists and the dismissal of the Whitlam Government.
